So, California has finally legalized marijuana.  Whether or not you’re in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or near a San Diego Marijuana Dispensary, recreational marijuana is legal in all of California now.  And here is a guide to get you started.

Maybe you like to call it weed, or pot, or some other funny nickname?  Either way THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) or Cannabis and CBD (Cannabidiol) are the technical names of marijuana and they propose a different effect.

THC is a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant that gives you a euphoric high.  CBD is used mostly for pain and does not create a mental high, or make you feel intoxicated.  It eases the pain in your body.

Most marijuana dispensaries in California like “A Green Alternative” will have many strains of recreational marijuana for you to choose from.  There will always be a person there to educate you as well. I enjoy this part of it, being what most would consider a rookie when it comes to weed.  So for people like myself, it is great to have someone give you the lowdown on what you will be purchasing.

Let’s Talk Specifics

Sativa is my favorite because it provides more of an uppity buzz.  It’s what you would consider an “upper” in the marijuana world.  As opposed to something making you feel more relaxed and in a daze.  This is great for social gatherings, like an L.A. Kings or Dodgers game.

Indica can also be called “in the couch” because when you take Indica it makes you feel planted.  However, it does offer a pretty heady trip and you will have some creative thoughts and possibly even some great visions if you are in tune with that sort of thing.

Hybrids are pretty much what you would expect.  However, there are several ways to slice it when it comes to hybrids.  There are Sativa/Indica hybrids. In which either one can be higher than the other, depending on how you want to feel.  I prefer a Sativa heavy Hybrid. It’s a cool feeling. Many people highly recommend it.  You can also ingest a Hybrid of THC and CBD, which is also pretty cool.  Being an ex-professional athlete who is around 40 years old, the CBD helps on days when the old injuries flare up.

  • CBD Oil and Lotions for Pain

As mentioned above CBD is great for pain.  Basically, you get the soothing effects of the cannabis plant while still keeping your mind clear.  Much more clear than when taking Percocet or Vicodin, etc.

One cool caveat about marijuana being made legal nowadays is that you can have it delivered.  Yes, that’s right. Some dispensaries will deliver the product right to your door. I highly recommend this also.

However, remember that you need to be 21 or over and show a valid ID upon entrance into a dispensary or upon delivery.  Also, remember to take it easy and use it responsibly. You’ll thank me in the end for that one. Trust me.
